This behind-the-scenes account chronicles the real events in Laura’s life that inspired her to write her stories and also describes her life after the last Little House book ends.

This book explores the lives of some children who grew up in some very big shadows. Their fathers were all presidents of the United States. There are tons of interesting stories and facts shared that will interest adults as well as children. Young readers will be interested in learning some of the fun biographical information, but children especially may be impressed by the fact that no matter how well known or famous someone is, they are still a person, just like them.

If you are looking for a way to nudge your 9-12 year old toward doing a bit of non-fiction reading, this could be a nice introduction.

First Kids are kids like any other; they just lived with parents who happened to be busy running the free world. Discover likes and dislikes and learn about the games they played, to the vegetables they despised.

This is a fine introduction to biographies if your child is not accustomed to reading this type of book.
