This book is a great gift for your own child or for a classroom of children. So many kids today do not have a role model to look up to in their own lives, this book offers them several examples of people who have done great things. A book like this could serve well as a doorway to discussing how much each of us can do with the proper motivation and frame of mind.
This book is written with upper elementary children in mind. The biographies include people from a very wide range of backgrounds. The short entries are meant to inspire children to read more about each person (that is a good thing!), so be prepared to buy another book once your child finds someone who catches their interest.
Each of the 50 people has 2 pages devoted to them. There are also questions to go along with each person’s write-up. Teachers might find this an EXCELLENT way to introduce both biographies and research to their students. The best part is, this book gets children’s curiosity to kick into gear. Once that is done, pointing them toward doing research is a breeze.
